Firstly, if your mom is no longer with us here, may the longing and sadness this time of year may bring to you yield to the comfort of remembrances of shared laughter and joy and, most of all, love. My hope is that new traditions abound of honoring your mother or mother figure that also honors yourself. Peace to your heart.
May 12th is the day set aside to celebrate the mothers and mother figures in our lives. The calendar gives her one day, but I’ll give her (and you) the entire month! I’ll be adding a few new pieces throughout the month as well. I have some egg trays drying so we’ll see how that goes. Egg trays as in the kind used for serving deviled eggs, not the kind for storage. Those may be on the horizon as well, though. Ah, the life of a small batch potter.
On a personal note, I’d like to thank these guys for making me a mom! I’m really happy we all survived your teenage years! And your twenties, and your thirties. xoxo
Lastly, thank YOU for supporting the arts, however you may do so. Your support of my art allows me to keep pounding out the clay and serving the needs of others. It’s a joy and a job so although I would be happy to give everything away if I could still eat and work and keep a home, it is an amazing feeling to think my art has touched someone deeply enough that they’d trade me their hard earned money in exchange. I am not ashamed to admit that I’ve done a little happy dance with every sale. So, whether it’s my art or another artists’ work in any medium or format, your support can, will, and does provide joy, sustenance, and sometimes relief and validation when it’s most needed.
